Help establish Salisbury's memorial commemorating the Town's participation in the Revolutionary War
On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the nation, working the Salisbury Beach Betterment Association is leading an effort to recognize and celebrate the town’s place in history. We sincerely hope that you will consider partnering with us to help create a long-lasting memorial and tribute to our forebearers.
According to Salisbury Town Historian Carolyn Sargent, as referenced in her book
“Salisbury History,” 279 men from Salisbury served in the army during the Revolutionary War. The memorial will feature a replica of a cannon (drawing below) from that era and a commemorative plaque honoring our nation’s history and recognizing the Town’s participation in the founding of this great nation.
Along with the SBBA, we are bringing together people and organizations throughout the
community to support this commemorative endeavor. The installation will be completed prior to Salisbury’s celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary. The celebration and parade will take place on September 20, 2026. This memorial will serve current and future generations of Americans by providing an opportunity to remember those that came before to establish the foundation for our community, and to learn about and celebrate our rich history.
Please consider becoming a sponsor of this historic milestone for our community. Our fundraising goal is $15,000 for the acquisition, installation and maintenance of the memorial. All labor and support will be provided by our generous volunteers. Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated. Please mail your check to the SBBA at PO Box 5508, Salisbury MA 01952 or use the form below.
Donors of $2,000 or more will be listed as a “Salisbury Patriot” sponsor. Donors of $250 or more will be designated as a “Salisbury Eagle” sponsor. For additional information, please contact Ray Champagne at 978-771-9990 or email us at warmemorial@sbba.us
With your help, through the creation of this lasting memorial, we will add another great dimension to this historic moment. Please join us this summer and on September 20th to celebrate Salisbury’s special place in our nation’s history.
